“First and foremost, bear with this novel of a review. Trust me, it will be worth the read. Backstory, for almost a decade, my primary insurance coverage for my home and auto went through Traveler’s. It is often said you cannot truly tell the quality of an insurance company until you need to file a claim. After almost forty years without ever having to file a claim, my perfect streak was broken after being involved in a minor fender-bender. Travelers insurance was caught lying and went back on their word. Moreover, it took asking for a supervisor’s name five times before actually being given a name. Ultimately, I fired them and sought to find another insurance company. To my surprise, all your heavily marketed companies that claim “will save you money” were way more expensive than what I was already paying. It is important to note, at this point I was fine with paying way more just to get away from my previous company. This is where the review becomes relevant as a friend of mine recommended, I try Erie insurance. I didn’t know much about them but completed an online quote which for whatever reason failed to generate. The next day, Mr. Jared Herndon with VantagePoint Insurance Group gave me a call. Most of the phone call was Jared and I just talking. He allowed me to vent about my recent experiences with my current insurance company. He presented himself in a manner to which the product would be able to sell itself. The foundation to all relationships whether it be personal or professional is trust. Once that foundation was built, we moved on to talking business. I truly believe Jared was working as my advocate, not just trying to sell me something. Comparing my current policy (both home and auto) with what he could offer illustrated massive holes in my coverage could cost me dearly. For example, the verbiage of my previous homeowner’s policy was written in a way that if I ever needed a roof after ten years, I would be out of pocket for about 70% of the actual cost to replace the roof. As it pertained to the auto, I doubled my coverage for the same cost of my previous policy. My homeowner policy went up by a few bucks but there are no longer any loopholes within the policy where the insurance company can pull a fast one on me. After deciding to go with Erie, after the fact, I also took the time and researched the statistical data about people’s experiences when and (or) claim time hits. Not only does Erie get great general reviews, but most Erie customers have nothing but high praise when it comes to processing a claim. It would behoove other insurance companies (talking to you Traveler’s) to take note of what true customer service looks like. In closing, if you are looking for an insurance company, even if you were like me and content with what you got, give Jared a call, have a conversation, see if he cannot save you the headache I had to deal with before I switched. He is professional, prompt, and genuine. Those are very hard to come by traits these days.”
